Clay towel or drying towel: which job are you doing?
These towels have different intended jobs. A clay towel belongs to a permitted paintwork decontamination step; a drying towel is for removing water from a clean, compatible surface.
Choose by task, not colour
The clay towel in this selection has a treatment surface for compatible automotive paintwork. The blue twisted-loop microfibre towel is the drying option. They are not interchangeable just because both are cloth-shaped.
For the clay step, confirm the whole method
Check the exact treatment grade, required lubricant, paint or coating compatibility and supplied instructions. Do not use a clay-type towel as a dry scrubbing cloth, or expect it to repair scratches.
For drying, keep the towel clean
Use a towel reserved for compatible clean surfaces after washing. Check for grit, keep wheel-cleaning towels separate and follow the textile care instructions. No towel makes dirty or unsuitable contact scratch-proof.
What to compare before buying
For clay towels, compare grade and compatibility. For drying towels, compare confirmed dimensions, fibre blend and care guidance. Do not treat an unverified absorption number, GSM figure or product image as test evidence.
